"We are privileged to witness an unprecedented time for Greek-Israeli relations," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Meeting at the highest level, government to government, or G2G as it is called, confirms the mutual interests in deepening and expanding these all important ties. Such G2G meetings between countries are reserved for the closest of friends and allies."
The large Greek delegation accompanying Samaras includes eight Cabinet ministers and 100 business leaders. They will engage in a series of meetings with their Israeli counterparts that are expected to produce a number of signed agreements on cooperation in energy, investments, security and tourism.
"These two strong democratic nations are natural allies and anchors of stability in an increasingly turbulent region," said Harris. "The Greek-Israeli relationship will benefit not only each country, but also the region and beyond."
Addressing an AJC reception in New York last week, Samaras said his visit would "push forward for a true and comprehensive strategic partnership between Greece and Israel."
