ATLANTA, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AirWatch® by VMware, the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider, announced today that the AirWatch EMM platform will extend complete, same-day support for Windows Phone 8.1.
Microsoft publically announced Windows Phone 8.1 at BUILD 2014, and the update will be available for end users in the near future.
Windows Phone 8.1 provides enhanced security features and additional enterprise-grade capabilities that organizations can leverage through AirWatch. The update also simplifies the enrollment process for end users. With the added support of Windows Phone 8.1 to the AirWatch platform, IT administrators can centrally manage their entire fleet of devices running on Windows and other mobile platforms, including rugged devices, smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs.
By managing Windows Phone 8.1 devices with AirWatch, enterprises will be able to experience:
- Flexible self-enrollment with support for branding, terms of use and multi-factor authentication
- Device restrictions to disable browsers, app stores, camera and more
- Remote commands for device lock, passcode reset and ring device
- Real-time MDM configurations through push notifications
- Advanced certificate management with SCEP and S/MIME
- Silent over-the-air app installation and removal
- Configuration of Wi-Fi, VPN and email
- App whitelisting and blacklisting

Once Windows Phone 8.1 is publically available, AirWatch will enable Windows Phone 8.1 capabilities in global trial and pre-production cloud environments. Software will be updated based on normal change management notification periods and customer coordination. AirWatch apps compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 include the AirWatch Agent, Secure Content Locker™ and AirWatch Browser. AirWatch Inbox for Windows Phone 8.1 will be coming soon.
