ATLANTA, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at AirWatch Connect™, AirWatch® by VMware, the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider, introduced AirWatch AppShield™. By leveraging the AirWatch SDK and App Wrapping capabilities, AirWatch AppShield provides customers and partners with security and management capabilities. AirWatch also announced the charter mobile application management platform (MADP) providers that interoperate with AirWatch AppShield.
With AirWatch, organizations can containerize applications, secure data and enforce compliance policies across mobile operating systems. AirWatch provides the tools that enable an organization to develop, secure, deploy and manage critical business applications. As part of AirWatch AppShield, the AirWatch App Wrapping engine gives existing internal applications an extra level of security and management capabilities without requiring further development. Administrators can easily wrap applications from the admin console, and be confident their applications are secure.
Organizations leverage MADP providers to build applications to help fulfill business requirements. The charter MADP providers that interoperate with AirWatch AppShield include Adobe, Appcelerator, Kony, MicroStrategy, Oracle, salesforce.com, Sencha, Telerik and Xamarin. AirWatch also interoperates with the Apache Cordova open platform, which powers many other MADP providers. By enabling interoperability with the leading MADP providers, AirWatch customers can successfully wrap more than 100,000 existing applications developed on these platforms.
To become an AirWatch AppShield partner, an MADP provider must demonstrate compatibility with AirWatch App Wrapping feature sets, including app tunneling, single sign-on, data loss prevention restrictions, compromised device detection and other security features. The MADP provider works closely with AirWatch to provide sample applications, test against the AirWatch App Wrapping engine and identify and resolve any issues. Once approved, AirWatch AppShield partners are featured on the AirWatch Marketplace, which highlights the industry's leading community of technology partners in the enterprise mobility ecosystem, and are distinguished with an AppShield – MADP seal.
"Our customers are making strategic investments to build applications both internally and through developers to drive employee engagement, collaboration and productivity," said John Marshall, senior vice president and general manager, AirWatch by VMware. "The AirWatch platform provides organizations with comprehensive mobile application management capabilities through our SDK and App Wrapping capabilities, and today's announcement for interoperability with the industry's leading MADP providers demonstrates our broad ecosystem of partners that help customers deliver on their application initiatives."
