ORLANDO, Fla., June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today reported traffic for the month of May. The airline's load factor, 80.8 percent, represents a new all-time company record for the month of May.
For May, traffic grew by 8.4 percent to more than 1.67 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and the airline enplaned over 2.1 million passengers, a 6.6 percent increase over May 2009. Year-to-date, the airline has enplaned 9.7 million passengers – a 4.3 percent increase over last year.
