"With the proliferating information security threat landscape, government and defense agencies need advanced products to protect their networks and information assets. AirTight offers the most complete wireless policy management and enforcement solutions to both Wi-Fi and no Wi-Fi agency networks," said Dr. Hemant Chaskar, Vice President of Technology at AirTight. "AirTight's products are deployed worldwide in many of the most security sensitive United States government and defense organizations to assure security and comply with requirements such as DoD 8420.01, FISMA and guidelines from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Because AirTight products are always kept up-to-date with certifications such as FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria and DISA; government and defense agencies can take advantage of our best-of-breed wireless security technology for their networks."
"Although the standards were developed to assure that government agencies and those who provide technology to those agencies met the highest standards for security, it is becoming increasingly common for many non-government enterprises to ensure that they deploy robust products in their IT infrastructure. AirTight's validation with the above certifications provides solid proof of the security robustness of its product," continued Dr. Chaskar.
About FIPS
Under the Information Technology Management Reform Act (Public Law 104-106), the Secretary of Commerce approves standards and guidelines that are developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for Federal computer systems. These standards and guidelines are issued by NIST as Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) for use government-wide. NIST develops FIPS when there are compelling Federal government requirements such as for security and interoperability and there are no acceptable industry standards or solutions.
