Airspan Selects Aricent Group LTE EPC Software Framework
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, The Aricent Group, a global innovation and technology services company, today announced that Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of broadband wireless access networks, has chosen Aricent's EPCLite software framework for its AirCore LTE offering.
Aricent's innovative LTE 'EPCLite' software framework is an integrated offering for telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) to develop 'network-in-a-box' solutions for both large and small LTE networks. EPCLite comprises of eSAE gateway (SGW and PGW), MME, HSS, and PCRF components, with the flexibility to run these components in any combination on a single or a distributed hardware platform. The software components are 3GPP Rel-10 compliant and have additional segment-specific features to help the TEMs quickly create solutions for specialized markets like rural networks, public safety, and other small scale deployments.
The Airspan AirCore solution for LTE Enhanced Packet Core, together with the company's innovative Air4G LTE base station solution, integrates both LTE and WiMAX functionality and addresses high capacity and long range deployment requirements.
"We chose Aricent EPCLite for its innovative features, which complement Airspan's scalable eNodeB solution. The combined solution enables an operator to deploy an affordable LTE network, and expand the network as its user base grows, circumventing higher up-front costs. The EPCLite's architectural flexibility, ease of adding differentiating features and Aricent's strong services heritage played a key role in choosing this framework," said Uzi Shalev, Chief Operating Officer of Airspan.
"We are very excited to have Airspan as a customer for Aricent's LTE EPCLite," said Rakesh Vij, Vice President, Business Development, Aricent Group. "This continues to showcase our strength in providing key LTE software components for leading equipment vendors. Our innovation services for LTE comprising of software frameworks and product engineering services continue to help TEMs introduce innovative solutions quickly and efficiently."
