Air Products to Highlight Cost-Efficient Technologies for Steelmakers at AISTech 2012
LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., April 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Products (NYSE:APD) will highlight its comprehensive range of industrial gases and technologies for steelmakers, which can help producers from the melt shop to the rolling mill save money throughout their operations, at AISTech 2012 in Atlanta, Ga., from May 7-10.
Air Products will have a team of knowledgeable representatives on-hand at booth #117 to speak with steelmakers about their specific operations and discuss ways the company can help them reduce their fuel consumption and carbon footprint, increase productivity, and optimize gas efficiency to lower their overall costs.
Among the company's highlighted technologies will be Air Products' state-of-the-art oxy-fuel burner solutions for various stages of the steelmaking operation, as well as Blast Furnace Plus, offered through the integrated technologies of Air Products and Danieli Corus. This patented technology transforms the blast furnace into a combined iron-maker and fuel producer for high-efficiency power production. The technology can produce dramatic cost savings on the order of $20 per ton of hot metal and increased hot metal productivity, while optimizing power generation through integration with the blast furnace and decreasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
In addition, Air Products specialists will present "A Sensible Route to Energy Efficiency Improvement and CO2 Management in the Steel Industry" at 2:30 p.m. on May 8 at RM building A, level three concourse A302. Individuals attending this technical paper presentation will discover how steelmakers can make significant operating cost improvements in their iron-making operations today while preparing for a carbon-constrained environment in the future.
