Air France And New York Road Runners To Host Third Annual France Run And Festival
Offering the public a fun-filled morning for the entire family and a chance to win a trip to the Paris Marathon 2018
NEW YORK, Aug. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Air France will be the lead partner of New York Road Runners' (NYRR) third annual France Run on Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Central Park. The France Run celebrates the sport's popularity in France and the United States, the historic close relationship between the two countries and Air France's history of supporting the running passions of its frequent-fliers through its Flying Blue Running Club. The France Run is sold out, but all are invited to attend the race festival, and enter to win a trip to the 2018 Paris Marathon.
"Air France is thrilled to once again be the lead partner of the France Run, and celebrate the special relationship between the United States and France," said Stéphane Ormand, Vice President and General Manager, USA – Air France KLM. "Air France sponsors major races around the world and launched the Flying Blue Running Club because many of our frequent-fliers are passionate runners, and because races like the France Run bring people together in an exhilarating display of the athletic spirit."
"The France Run is a family-friendly event – with kids' races and an 8K for adults – that brings our diverse running community together to celebrate health and fitness alongside the vibrant French culture," said Michael Capiraso, president and CEO of New York Road Runners. "New York Road Runners is excited to partner with Air France to host more than 5,000 runners of all ages and abilities at the third France Run in Central Park."
The 8K (approximately five miles) will begin at 8:00 a.m. Towards the end of the race on West Drive and 79th Street, Air France will have a Parisian cheering squad stationed with pompoms, megaphones, noise makers and motivational signs to give runners an extra push as they head towards the finish line. Kids' races will follow the 8K for children ages 2-12 years old at 9:45 a.m.
The highly-anticipated race has sold out, but New Yorkers still have an opportunity to join in the fun at the post-race festival located at the Naumburg Bandshell, located mid-park between 66th and 72nd Streets, from 6:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The festival will showcase French culture with a variety of complimentary offerings, delicious refreshments, fun activities, music, dancing and great giveaways. Air France tents will feature an interactive photo booth, face painting, complimentary massages and a Flying Blue Running booth where guests can sign up for a chance to win a trip for two to Paris and participate in the Paris Marathon 2018.
Michel & Augustin cookies, Nature Addict Fruit Sticks, Løv Organic tea, Atout France and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) will also host booths at the festival. Raffle prizes will include a gift certificate for Jacadi Baby and children's clothing; an Ode a La Rose bouquet of 24 roses and gift card for Ode a La Rose; Champagne Drappier Carte d'or; a gift certificate for 11-Week French Language Course for adult or child at FIAF; and the grand prize will be a pair of round trip Economy tickets from New York City to Paris on Air France.
