DENVER, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tenth Anniversary Aimco Cares Charity Golf Classic sponsored by Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco), and presented by RE/MAX, raised more than one half million dollars to benefit family members who have lost a loved one in the line of duty, military personnel returning from overseas, and college-bound students living in affordable housing. The event took place July 11 at Sanctuary Golf Course in Sedalia, Colorado.

More than 120 golfers participated in this year's tournament with 94 companies providing sponsorships. Diamond Sponsors, contributing $30,000 or more, were Apartment Guide/Rent.com, Institutional Property Advisors (IPA), and Cognizant. Platinum Sponsors, contributing $20,000 or more, were Apartment Finder, CBRE, Harris Winick, LLP, and Jones Lang LaSalle. Gold Sponsors, contributing $10,000 or more, were Alston + Bird, ARA, Ballard Spahr, LLP, Bryan Cave, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, Cohn Reznick, Conservice, Cushman & Wakefield, Karndean Design Flooring, Kutak Rock LLP, Lockton, Moen, Moran & Company, Quantum, RealPage, Transwestern, Tryba Architects, and Wilmar.

Founded in 1994, TAPS is the front-line resource for military families grieving the loss of a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. TAPS provides 24/7 comfort and care through a national network of peer-based emotional support, case work assistance, crisis intervention, and grief and trauma resources.
Project Sanctuary helps military families reconnect after returning from overseas duty. Families participate in therapeutic retreats in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, and receive Project Sanctuary's assistance with housing, job placement and veterans' benefits.
The Aimco Cares Opportunity Scholarship provides financial assistance to college-ready students living in affordable housing. The scholarship, administered in partnership with the National Leased Housing Association's Education Fund, already has helped 104 students pursue their dreams of a college education.
Since its inception, the annual golf classic has raised more than $2.8 million for charitable causes. It is the signature event for Aimco Cares, Aimco's philanthropic arm. As part of Aimco Cares, each Aimco employee receives 10 hours of paid time annually to apply toward community service. Nationwide, hundreds of organizations have benefited from Aimco team member volunteerism.
