AIC Announces Its Walnut Creek Series Designed to Help Adapt to the New NF1 NVMe Drives
AIC's standard PCIe cards and U.2 adapters, codename Walnut Creek, are designed to help customers enable their standard server or even desktop systems by adapting to the new JEDEC NF1 Form Factor NVMe drives in the market.
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- AIC today announced general delivery of the Walnut Creek series PCIe cards and U.2 adapters, which support M.2 or NF1 modules. NF1 NVMe drive, formerly known as NGSFF, is a new type of form factor that optimizes for low latency and high throughput, high-density NVMe storage systems.
The newly developed adapters for NF1 NVMe drives allow customers to adopt new NF1 or leverage M.2 drives into existing machines. Walnut Creek includes three adapters: a HHHL add-in Card that supports one module, a FHHL add-in Card that supports up to two modules and a U.2 adapter that supports up to two modules. With NF1, it supports hot swappable and power failure protection.
"We announced our Mission Peak at last year's 2017 Flash Memory Summit during a time when more and more customers are learning how to leverage the total performance throughput and low latency in Cloud Data Centers, autonomous driving industries, AI related products, banking industries and CDN applications. We are aware that the challenge of adopting a new form factor will not be easy and cannot happen overnight. AIC's Walnut Creek will definitely help customers who are willing to start the new form factor," said Hank Lu, Executive Vice President of AIC.
"Walnut Creek is very helpful to introduce this new technology to IT administrators with their existing server environment. By leveraging PCIe high bandwidth and hot-plug features, set up a few Walnut Creek at development environment also help performance evaluation, trouble shooting and other offline maintenance works," said Neo Yin, Director of R&D of ADATA.
Applications include support for massive databases with scale-out storage and real-time analytics for cloud and mega datacenters. Both Mission Peak and Walnut Creek, equipped with NF1 modules, are ideal for use in content distribution networks as well as in any environment that must meet high performance and high-density benchmarks.
From data mining to modeling dynamic systems such as the weather or aggregated consumer shopping patterns, AIC's Mission Peak and Walnut Creek, equipped with NF1 modules, will help enterprise organizations meet their bandwidth, storage and performance objectives while staying within their data center budget.
AIC will demonstrate New Era of Storage with Peaks Series at the 2018 Flash Memory Summit – Booth 801 held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA from August 7th to 9th and at the 2018 VMworld – Booth 1642 held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV from August 26th to 30th. In addition, AIC will also showcase a complete product line of new generation NVMe storage servers, JBOF with SmartNIC cards, High-availability and All-Flash Array NVMe storage servers.
