AIBioTech Working with FDA to Ensure New Genetic Test Remains Available to Consumers
- Sports X Factor Test Panel Identifies Athletic Strengths & Undiagnosed Risk Factors -
RICHMOND, Va., May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American International Biotechnology Services (AIBioTech) today announced it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to keep its Sports X Factor genetic test available to consumers. The test panel screens athletes and young sports competitors for undiagnosed risk factors and athletic strengths to make awareness of potential health conditions more precise and workouts more effective.
During a meeting with the FDA on May 20, 2011, representatives from AIBioTech committed to working diligently over the next 30 days to submit a plan for performing studies to support Sports X Factor testing, which will ultimately provide results to the FDA for evaluation and subsequent augmentation of section 201(h) of the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.
"AIBioTech believes that everyone has a right to their genetic information without a prescription. Our main goal with Sports X Factor is to provide an affordable means for athletes and parents to access genetic information for the purpose of making informed decisions about maximizing performance while minimizing risk," said Bill Miller, CEO of AIBioTech. "We recognize the FDA's attention to thorough compliance and are pleased to cooperate with the organization at a time when human genomics is coming to fruition under the FDA umbrella."
Studied and created by scientists with more than 20 years of experience in the biotechnology field, Sports X Factor provides a wealth of information about an individual's genetic make-up, including potential health hazards and athletic strengths, so workout programs can be tailored to minimize risk and maximize performance.
The $200 test is available to the general public at www.SportsXFactor.com. Various options available with the test equip users to make better decisions about their exercise routines and to order customized workout programs based on their genetic results.
