Agreement reached at Vancouver International Airport
OTTAWA, Sept. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Dr. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated the Vancouver International Airport Authority and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) on reaching an agreement, which has now been ratified by the PSAC membership.
"I am pleased that the Vancouver International Airport Authority and PSAC worked closely to achieve an agreement," said Minister Leitch. "Both parties remained focused on the negotiation process which was beneficial in avoiding any work stoppages and ensured uninterrupted services at the Vancouver International Airport."
The parties reached an agreement with the assistance from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. PSAC represents office and trades employees, including terminal duty and airside safety officers, airfield operators, firefighters, mechanics and signmakers, whose previous collective agreement expired on December 31, 2012.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
