Agora Cyber Charter School Celebrates Class of 2011
WAYNE, Pa., June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Three hundred and fifty students were honored as the class of 2011 by Agora Cyber Charter School (Agora) at the West Shore Evangelical Free Church and Conference Center in Mechanicsburg.
Featured at this year's ceremony were speeches by co-Valedictorians Emily Elliot of Philadelphia and Caitlyn Dengler of Drumore.
Elliott, an Agora student for five years, plans to take time off to teach computer skills to autistic children before attending the Philadelphia University of Sciences. Elliott, who is an active participant in community theater, also served as Vice President and President of the National Honor Society and as a mentor through the Agora Ambassador program.
Dengler, who has been an Agora student for two years, is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a riding instructor and equine trainer, and plans to obtain her accreditation for professional horse training through the prestigious Lyons Legacy Horsemanship program at the Lyons Legacy Training Center in Tennessee.
Salutatorian Janay Miller, a native of Philadelphia, also addressed her peers at this year's ceremony. Miller plans to attend Park University where she will study Pre-Med.
Sharon Williams, head of school at Agora, said, "Graduation from high school is an important milestone and achievement for students and families. The Agora faculty and staff celebrate our graduates as they move on to realize even bigger dreams. We are so proud of their accomplishments and we are confident that the education they received at Agora will prepare them for the future."
Agora seniors have been awarded over $300,000 worth of scholarships so far. Some of the schools chosen by this year's graduating class include:
Drexel University, Penn State University, Berklee School of Music, University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, and Bloomsburg University.
