MISSION, Kan., Aug. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Adelphi Construction LC, owned by Industrial Accessories Company (IAC), recently completed the design/build of two Frac Sand facilities for Preferred Sands in central Texas and is completing 3 more plants in parallel. The initial two projects included Process and Design Engineering, Site Prep, wet plant, dry plant, silo storage, loadout, buildings and fully automated control. Upon commissioning of the plant, IAC and their contract team continued to support Preferred with operational expertise, programming and maintenance supplemental support. This allowed Preferred time to balance the wet and dry plant, increase the operational expertise of their staff and ramp production.
IAC's internal construction company, Adelphi Construction, began commissioning of the plants with sand to the silos on March 1st, 2018. IAC ramped construction activities to adapt to material delays, change in scope and other construction difficulties. The most impressive construction success was the partnership between Preferred and IAC. Both parties worked through extreme difficulties to commission the plant, train operating personnel and optimize the plant. TJ Doyle, President of Preferred Sands stated, "We selected IAC based on their design build and construction schedule, combined with their patented rotary Frac Sand dryer design. IAC's dryer allows us to operate at levels of moisture and tonnage rates that aren't feasible within a fluid bed dryer. In addition, IAC has stuck with the Plants through the process over the last 4 months to support Preferred Sands in numerous ways beyond the construction."
Many Frac Sand plants processing primarily 40/70 and 100 mesh products struggle in the early phases of production to provide a 3-4% moisture sand to the dryer. This is a limiting factor in production until WIP decants to a lower Moisture. Even with a small 40M Btu burner, the Patented IAC Frac Sand dryer technology was proven to process wet sand at moisture levels above 10%. Bob Carter, SVP of Frac Sand Operations for IAC, stated, "The relationship built between IAC and Preferred allowed both companies to work through adverse conditions to achieve a common objective. It wouldn't have been possible to fast track these projects without the trust, support and motivation of the Preferred Sands executive team and CEO of IAC Glenn Smith's leadership style."
