After record-setting Barrett-Jackson sale, Assiter returns home to focus on auction of Adaberry Inn property
CANYON, Texas, Oct. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Just last week, Spanky Assiter was surrounded by celebrities in Las Vegas, with his team of blue-chip auctioneers selling more than $33 million worth of classic vehicles, setting a new record for the nationally televised Barrett-Jackson auctions.
A couple of days later, he was settled back into the Assiter Auctioneers offices in Canyon, making plans for the Nov. 12 auction of an Amarillo property that has enjoyed its own spotlight over the years. That property is currently operated as the Adaberry Inn, known to some as "Oprah's House" because of the period in which Oprah Winfrey lived there during the extended trial of a lawsuit.
"I love the Barrett-Jackson auctions, but I always look forward to getting back home and focusing on our day-to-day business of selling real estate, equipment and other assets here in Texas," he said.
"The inn has also hosted Ashlee Simpson, Billy Ray Cyrus, the 60 Minutes team and other famous visitors. But it's also a magnificent residence, so it's possible that the new owner could simply use it as a home or convert it to some other purpose – perhaps one that serves the Regional Medical Community that surrounds it," said Assiter.
"This won't be nationally televised, and I don't know that we'll have a house full of celebrities like we did in Vegas, but we are hoping for a great sale," said Assiter.
The auction will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the property, 6818 Plum Creek Drive. Individuals interested in additional information may visit www.assiter.com or call 800-283-8005.
Assiter Auctioneers, based in Canyon, is the official auctioneer of Barrett-Jackson and specializes in the sale of equipment, homes, commercial properties, land and other assets.
