After Hilliard's nomination of Feinberg to lead VW settlement, VW hires him
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today VW announced it has hired Ken Feinberg to lead its efforts to quickly begin to design a process by which customers may settle their claims with the car maker.
Just yesterday Bob Hilliard, who represents over 4,000 individual VW owners whose vehicles were affected by the defeat device secretly installed in their cars, asked a federal court in the Northern District of California to appoint Mr. Feinberg as Special Settlement Master.
"Ken Feinberg and I have spoken. We worked well together in the GM Compensation Program both during the development of the plan and the negotiations of individual awards," says Hilliard.
"VW, by hiring Ken, has shown it understands there will be no discounts on this settlement. VW understands it owes each of my clients the full purchase price plus additional damages and fees.
"I am hopeful this process will allow my clients to more quickly be fairly compensated for this criminal conduct by VW and also, allow VW to avoid shuttering its doors and ending its business.
"I have no doubt I can begin to almost immediately enter into substantive discussions with Mr. Feinberg."
