AFSCME, McLaren Reach Tentative Agreement
DETROIT, Jan. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lawrence A. Roehrig, Secretary-Treasurer of Michigan Council 25 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, and Sandra Crayton, President of AFSCME Local 2650, issued the following statement:
"AFSCME and McLaren Health Care Corporation have been in contract negotiations since July 22, 2010," stated Roehrig. "The parties have dedicated a good deal of time and energy to these negotiations, and have approached the issues in a manner which is at once rational, responsible, and pragmatic."
"We have reached what we believe to be a fair and equitable tentative agreement, and we hope the membership will find it satisfactory," added Crayton. "The bargaining committee recommends ratification, and we urge every member to vote in the ratification process."
Local 2650 will conduct the ratification vote on January 30, 2011. No details on the tentative agreement will be released prior to that date.
AFSCME Local 2650 represents about 1,300 members employed by McLaren Regional Medical Center, Lapeer Regional Medical Center, McLaren Health Care Group, and Visiting Nurses.
Lawrence A. Roehrig is also Michigan Vice President for AFSCME International. Michigan AFSCME Council 25 represents more than 90,000 public workers across Michigan.
