AFSCME Detroit & Wayne County Units to Rally at City-County Building, Guardian Building
DETROIT, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Albert Garrett, President of Michigan Council 25 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, issued the following statement:
"City of Detroit employees represented by AFSCME and Wayne County employees represented by AFSCME will conduct two rallies to protest lack of progress in contract negotiations and demands for concessions by the employers," stated Garrett.
"The first rally will take place Thursday, February 04, 2010, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM," Garrett continued. "The rally will begin at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 2 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, and we will march to the Guardian Building, 500 Griswold, Detroit.
"The second rally will take place on Friday, February 05, 2010, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Guardian Building," concluded Garrett.
Albert Garrett is also Michigan Vice President for AFSCME International. Michigan AFSCME Council 25 represents more than 90,000 public workers across Michigan.
