AFS-USA Names Jorge A. Castro President
Appoints Ambassador William A. Eaton and David Vodila to the Board of Directors
NEW YORK, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- AFS-USA, a leader in intercultural learning and international exchange programs, has named Jorge A. Castro president. Castro has served as interim president since May 2009.
Castro brings more than three decades of international experience with AFS, having served as executive director of both AFS Argentina and AFS Vivre Sans Frontiere in Paris before coming to the United States.

"With Jorge's vision, world view and experience, he will ensure that AFS-USA continues to provide robust, meaningful learning experiences for our students, host families, volunteers and others who participate in AFS programs around the world."
A native of Argentina, Castro participated in an AFS exchange to the United States from 1977-78 where he received an American high school diploma. He attended Universite de Lyon III, Jean Moulin, Lyon, France, and earned his law degree from Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires in Argentina.
In addition to Castro's appointment, AFS-USA announced two new appointees to its Board of Directors — Ambassador William A. Eaton and David Vodila.
Ambassador Eaton, of Falls Church, Va., is Dean of the School of Language Studies at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, the U.S.'s premier language training school. Ambassador Eaton studied abroad with AFS from 1971-72 in Belgium. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Panama from 2005-2008, and as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Administration from 2001-2005.
Vodila, of York, Pa., is an educational consultant with three decades experience as a high school principal. He is past president of both the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals. Vodila serves on the board of directors of the Council on Standards for International Education Travel (CSIET).
