AFPM Applauds Governor Heineman's Approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline -- Urges President Obama to Act

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President Charles T. Drevna issued the following statement in response to Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman's approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline through his state:

"Governor Dave Heineman's decision today to allow the Keystone XL Pipeline to be routed through Nebraska brings the country one step closer to economic growth and energy independence. The U.S. State Department has concluded that the pipeline will have a degree of safety greater than any typically constructed domestic oil pipeline system under current regulations. With 79 percent of Americans in support of construction, President Obama has been given a clear mandate to approve the pipeline. Now is the president's chance to prove to the nation that his 'all of the above' energy strategy is more than just forgotten campaign rhetoric. The president should make approval of Keystone one of the first official acts of his second term."
