WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This Labor Day weekend, the AFL-CIO will roll out a major television and radio ad campaign as union families continue the fight for good jobs and a strong, middle-class economy. The ad will be featured in Pennsylvania during prime-time sporting events including twenty-seven spots on multiple media outlets running during the Pirates and Phillies games on Sunday and Monday. The new ads are available here: www.aflcio.org.
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO will also roll out it's statewide Labor Day radio ad campaign on the weekend and Labor Day Holiday featuring the voice of an unemployed pipefitter who says he would much rather be working than facing the difficulties and uncertainties of being without a job. The radio ad will be broadcast on Radio Pennsylvania, as well as The Rick Smith Show. You can also listen to it on our Facebook page.
"Labor Day is a time for everyone in America to celebrate working people and our communities. This ad is a reminder to our leaders and the public to focus on what families are facing in today's economy and to keep us on the path forward." said Rick Bloomingdale, President of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. "When working people across the nation come together, we can create something better for the next generation. We have a voice, together we can make it heard."
According to the AFL-CIO, the ad will run as thousands of union families are hosting hundreds of events across the country to celebrate America's workers and boost get-out-the-vote efforts for November's midterm elections.
Below are scripts of the ads which begin running in Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 5th:
"Build" TV: 30
Construction worker VO: "We work to build our country."
Firefighter VO: "We work to make our communities safe."
Nurse VO: "To give our kids a better life."

Making things. Innovating.
Working together.
That's how we've always moved our country forward.
And that's how we'll do it again.
We are the unions of today's AFL-CIO –
Working together for a stronger America.
Happy Labor Day.
