Afghan Women Make Themselves Heard in Europe
BRUSSELS, October 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
South Asia Democratic Forum (SADF) thinks it is imperative that the interests of Afghan women are kept in mind while deciding on the future of Afghanistan. SADF and the Jalal Foundation have accordingly concluded an agreement - to be signed in Berlin on October 17 next - aiming at facilitating their contact with the civil society and political authorities of the West.
A delegation of the Jalal Foundation will be travelling through Berlin, Brussels, Paris and Geneva The Jalal Foundation was established and is headed by Dr Massouda Jalal, previously a minister for women in the Afghan government and a presidential election candidate in 2004, who will be leading a delegation of five staff from the Jalal Foundation, including Ms Ghulam Murtaza Belquis, Ms. Maliha Partaw, Ms. Bibi Rogul Parwin and Mrs. Sadat.
During their stay in Berlin, the Jalal Foundation delegation will be received by several institutions, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Department for International Cooperation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, at the German Foreign Office, and by the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Assistance.
