AFGE, TSA Nearing First Labor Contract
WASHINGTON, July 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The American Federation of Government Employees today announced it is close to coming to agreement with the Transportation Security Administration for a first collective bargaining agreement covering 45,000 Transportation Security Officers nationwide:
"Following marathon negotiations, AFGE and TSA are close to a historic labor contract. We have partial agreement, but we ran out of time at about 3:00 a.m. Saturday before we could complete the entire agreement. Both parties remain committed to reaching an agreement and will go forward from here to bring the negotiations process to a successful conclusion," AFGE National President John Gage said.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union representing 650,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia, including nearly 45,000 at TSA.
