AFGE Members Highlight 2011 Legislative Priorities on 'Inside Government'

Members and activists from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., Feb. 6 – 9 for AFGE's annual Legislative and Grassroots Mobilization Conference. AFGE TSA local presidents Rick McCoy (Local 777) and Don Thomas (Local 556) discussed the recent granting of collective bargaining rights and how it will improve workplace conditions and public safety.
AFGE DEFCON Chair Don Hale and Vice Chair Patty Viers then responded to a hiring freeze at the Department of the Army and shed light on labor-management forums within the Department of Defense.
Lastly, AFGE Immigration and Customs Enforcement National Council 118 President Chris Crane, Executive Vice President Lorenzo Garza and Secretary-Treasurer Rick Diaz addressed understaffing at ICE and its impact on morale, retention efforts and officer and public safety.
