Union Moves to Gain National Support for Gray's Mayoral Candidacy
WASHINGTON , June 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The nation's largest federal and D.C. employee union, The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and its board of directors will meet today with D.C. Council Chair Vincent Gray. The union has announced its support for Gray's mayoral candidacy, but plans to take action to get support from unions across the country. Today's strategy meeting follows AFGE's and other labor unions' recent endorsement of Vincent Gray as D.C.'s mayor. "We believe that Gray has a clear understanding of the problems facing D.C," said AFGE National President John Gage. "He has always shown openness and an attitude of inclusiveness toward labor. Further, this is the nation's capital, all Americans have a stake in how it is governed."
