WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Federation of Government Employees announced its endorsement of Lisa Brown for election this November to the U.S. House representing Washington's 5th Congressional District.
"Lisa Brown has been a leader and public servant in the state for decades, and we're excited to announce our support for her race this November," said AFGE District 11 National Vice President Gerry Swanke. "Lisa has a stellar background as a state legislator in Washington for more than 20 years, with eight of them as the Senate Majority Leader. We know she'll leverage those experiences to fight for working people in Congress."
"At a time when federal workers and their agencies are under attack, it's vital we have someone like Lisa standing with us in Congress," said Swanke. "From her unwavering support for the working class through fair wages to her plan to have a fully-funded Social Security agency – Lisa knows what matters to Washingtonians and will do what it takes to help them as their next Congresswoman."
More than 75,000 federal workers and retirees live in Washington – nearly 15,000 of whom live in the 5th district – supporting the military, caring for veterans, ensuring the safety of the flying public, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
