AFGE Endorses J.D. Scholten for Congress
Union says Scholten 'stands with all working Iowans'
WASHINGTON, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Federation of Government Employees announced its endorsement of J.D. Scholten for election this November to the U.S. House representing Iowa's 4th Congressional District.

Scholten as their next Congressman," said AFGE District 8 National Vice President Gregg James. Nearly 9,000 federal workers live in Iowa – with more than 8,000 workers and retirees in the 4th district – supporting the military, caring for veterans, ensuring the safety of the flying public, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
"Federal employees play a critical role here in Iowa's 4th Congressional district, whether it be making sure our meat is safe for consumers, policing our communities to be safe from crime, or providing critical health care services for the sick," said Scholten. AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 8 has more than 10,000 dues-paying members in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
