WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Federation of Government Employees announced its endorsement of Jason Crow of Colorado for the U.S. House of Representatives for Colorado's 6th District.
"As both a veteran and as part of the working-class, Jason Crow is exactly what we need more of in Congress. That's why we're announcing our support for his race today," said AFGE District 11 National Vice President Gerry Swanke.
"With the constant attack on federal workers' jobs and benefits and new efforts to roll-back workplace rights, we know we need more allies like Jason," said Swanke. Adding, "We know he will stand with public servants. He will fight against privatization. And he will work to ensure we have a fully-funded VA. Jason knows what matters in Washington, and we're excited to see him lead after he wins this fall."
Nearly 55,000 federal workers live in Colorado – more than 11,000 of whom reside in the 6th district – supporting the military, caring for veterans, ensuring the safety of the flying public, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 11 has more than 21,000 dues-paying members in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Guam, Okinawa, Utah, and Wyoming.
