WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of David Shapiro for election this November to the U.S. House representing Florida's 16th Congressional District.

More than 79,000 federal civilian employees live in Florida – caring for veterans, supporting the military, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time. There are 10,300 active and retired federal employees in the 16th Congressional District.
AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 5 represents more than 108,500 employees in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
