Affordable Medigap Plans M and N Are Now Available Through Medicare Solutions
The New Plan M and Plan N are less expensive and Plan N is guaranteed-issue.
SHELTON, Conn., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Medicare Solutions, a leading online health insurance agency, announced today that information on the new Medicare Supplement Plans is now available on its website, including the new Medicare Supplement Plan M and Medicare Supplement Plan N. These two supplement plans cost 20-25% less on average than Plan F, which is currently the most popular Medigap plan. Some health insurers are offering Plan N with no medical underwriting.
Plan M and Plan N were designed to offer lower monthly premiums by introducing office co-payments and other cost-sharing options. For example, Plan N has a $20 office co-pay and a $50 emergency room co-pay, while Plan M covers 50% of the Part A deductible. Plans are available beginning with June 1, 2010 effective dates.
New pricing and plan details are available from major insurance carriers, including Mutual of Omaha. As of June 1, 2010, new federal laws require an update of all Medicare supplement plans offered by private carriers. Pricing on these plans varies from person to person, from state to state. Getting accurate information regarding coverage and costs is critical to affected seniors.
The new law, known as The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), phases out Plans E, H, I and J, and eliminates at-home recovery and preventive care benefits. A new hospice benefit is added and carriers will be required to offer Plan C and F.
Seniors looking to supplement their Medicare coverage may find a more affordable option by using the online quoting tool available for free on Medicare Solutions. Medicare experts are standing by Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, to answer questions and to assist users. (800) 328-7305
