The yearlong partnership will include the company being a primary sponsor and participating in signature Alzheimer's Association events, including its Education Conference and the Walk to End Alzheimer's. During Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month in June, Affinity Gaming's casino properties will create promotions and programs for their guests. In addition, Affinity will offer educational sessions, informational tables and program materials for team members along with team member rallies and town hall meetings. Team members also will have access to care consultation through their regional offices to provide case management and navigation through each stage of the disease.
Albert Chavez, EdS CFLE, the regional director of the Alzheimer's Association Desert Southwest Chapter Southern Nevada Region, was present to receive a $10,000 check from Silberling to kick off the partnership. With $60,000 of the overall commitment targeted for Southern Nevada, it will be largest single corporate contribution to the regional chapter of the Association.
Guests and corporate team members planted silk flowers in the "Promise Garden" with different colors signifying how they've been touched by Alzheimer's, whether as a caretaker, or a survivor of a loved one passing away.
"We have a responsibility to help and give back to our communities when we can," said Silberling. "Every 66 seconds, someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer's and by mid-century, that will increase to someone every 33 seconds. By partnering with the Alzheimer's Association, we hope to encourage others to participate so we can find new treatments and preventions, and ultimately, a cure."
