Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to Student Members

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation today announced the 2018 recipients of three student scholarships, awarding a total of $10,000 to the students.

Committed to strengthening the communities it serves, the Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 per student to deserving members based on community involvement, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities.

The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, dedicated to the late Affinity Executive Vice President, Robert L. Birkhahn, is awarded to graduating seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree. This year's recipients include:

• Anna Peczak – Basking Ridge, NJ
• Clara Citarella – Warren, NJ
• Eric Laputka – Bridgewater, NJ
• Jessica D'Agostino – Hillsborough, NJ
• Julianne Shahpazian – New Providence, NJ
• Marissa Steiner – Springfield, NJ
• Michael Csernecky – Thiells, NY
• Rea Rustagi – Hillsborough, NJ

The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, in honor of Richard A. Romano, Sr., longtime volunteer on the Affinity Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee, is awarded to graduating high school seniors planning to enroll, transfer, or continue their education at Rutgers University. This year's scholarship has been awarded to:

• Sophia Lake – Flanders, NJ

The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship is awarded to students planning to continue their degree at a two- or four-year college or university. This year's scholarship has been awarded to:

• Matthew Lusk – Basking Ridge, NJ
