Mid-Atlantic Internship Consortium Awarded Seven Year Grant of Accreditation
WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mid-Atlantic Internship Consortium (MAIC), an affiliated internship of the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University | Washington DC received a grant of accreditation from the American Psychological Association (APA) for seven years. Granted through 2022, the accreditation term is the longest period achievable for such programs.
MAIC, an internship program that provides the final required training component for doctoral-level clinical psychologists, is a dedicated group of psychological service providers located in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. and is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
The year-long MAIC internship includes supervised clinical practice, instruction and professional development at one of the 10 consortium locations. 27 slots will be available for 2,080 hour internship in the coming year with the goal of preparing entry-level clinical psychologists who exhibit the functional skills that are the foundations of clinical practice, who are able to practice within the broad context of cultural diversity, ethics, and professional standards bases of behavior and are able to apply scientific methods as a foundation of clinical practice.
