Affairs of the Vine's Cabernet Shootout Results Are Challenged as the 9th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout Heats Up
SEBASTOPOL, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Affairs of the Vine began the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Shootout with a series of blind tastings over a six-week period. This year's Cabernet Shootout panel of judges tasted 217 unique wines from 43 different appellations.
The panel (7 women and 19 men) is comprised of a diverse range of wine industry professionals from varying disciplines including restaurant and retail trade, winemakers, wine writers, wine educators, and consultants.
On September 29, 2010, the findings of the Cabernet Shootout judges were put to the test as members of the Chicago Wine Club tasted 34 of the top wines blind at Chicago's Blue Star Wine Bar. Did they agree with the Shootout panel? Wine Channel TV chronicled the Cabernet Challenge and detailed findings can be reviewed on the Affairs of the Vine website.
Details of the favorites with scores and comments by gender are posted so that you can compare and contrast the wines as seen by our male and female panelists. Comments and results of the Chicago Wine Club tasting will be posted on The Wine Evangelist Blog.
As the Cabernet Shootout comes to a close, the 9th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout is just heating up. Producers of Pinot Noir should submit their wines to Affairs of the Vine. Overview and registration: http://www.affairsofthevine.com/9th_pn_form/
