LOS ALTOS, Calif., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Afero, the IoT platform that connects and secures every smart thing, launched the Afero Secure Hub, a standalone physical gateway that allows manufacturers to continuously monitor and control their smart devices. Afero has selected Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) to ensure secure and reliable communication between the Afero Cloud and any device equipped with the Afero Secure Radio module. Afero will leverage Qualcomm Atheros' AR9344, a highly integrated and feature-rich Wi-Fi® solution, for residential and commercial IoT hub development. Combined with the Afero mobile app and embedded hardware, the Secure Hub offers another option for manufacturers and service providers to bring connectivity and security to smart devices by leveraging the Afero platform.

Its highly-integrated and feature-rich IEEE 802.11n premium SoC includes Ethernet, routing, and management functions to help monitor and control smart devices from almost anywhere.
The Afero Secure Hub is equipped with its own network connectivity and connects wirelessly to the Afero Cloud using LTE. By allowing manufacturers and service providers to leverage the Afero IoT platform, the Secure Hub gives manufacturers and service providers a quick and secure path for bringing connectivity to a wide range of devices. The Afero Secure Hub is simple to set up using the Afero mobile app, and users can monitor and control all devices connected to the Smart Hub from their smartphones, anywhere.
