BIRMINGHAM, Ala. and NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation's leading provider of urgent care, occupational medicine and accessible primary care, announced today that it has partnered with American Development Partners (ADP) to accelerate the company's aggressive franchise expansion. AFC will work with ADP, a full service development and private equity firm, to open 300 additional AFC locations across several major U.S. markets. ADP will work directly with new and existing AFC franchisees by investing up to $1 billion in the development of new locations by facilitating the acquisition of land, overseeing construction, financing equipment, and providing working capital – all in a turnkey fashion.
The new relationship with AFC comes on the heels of several other major deals recently struck by ADP to fund the expansion of well-known franchise organizations, including Church's Chicken®, Checker's, and Captain D's, among others. Through this new agreement ADP will invest its own capital, and that of private equity firms and family offices, to help highly skilled business people serve their local communities in a way few entrepreneurs can – by making health care more accessible. "Our new relationship with ADP not only helps us toward achieving our mission of providing the best health care possible at times and locations convenient to the patient, but also helps us to serve the needs of local business people interested in joining the health care revolution, by giving them access to capital and expertise to start and/or grow their businesses," said Dr. Bruce Irwin, Founder & CEO of AFC.
Based on a detailed analysis of demographics, consumer behaviors, emergency room wait times, and other data related to local health care access, AFC and ADP have selected several key markets for expansion. These markets include metropolitan areas in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Texas. "AFC is well on its way to becoming one of the most widely known and admired brands in health care," says Caleb McMillen, COO of American Development Partners. "With this partnership our goal is to help accelerate the company's growth as it continues to disrupt and dominate the health care landscape.
Recently named a "best buy in franchising" by Franchise Times, AFC has nearly doubled its number of franchise units during the past 48 months. Currently, the company has more than 180 medical centers across the U.S., including 120 franchise locations and 66 corporately owned facilities. In addition to franchise and corporate locations, the company also operates joint ventures and other partnerships with local hospital systems to provide a high-quality continuum of care for its patients.
"Our partnership with ADP is an exciting development in our ongoing growth, and a perfect complement to franchise expansion efforts with self-funded entrepreneurs, organic expansion through new corporately owned clinics, and new partnerships with local hospital systems," added Scott Hoots, Vice President of Operations for AFC.
