AFC Announces Diverse Group of Business Leaders to Discuss Education Reform at 2012 National Policy Summit
Business leaders to address AFC's National Policy Summit on role of business community in education reform
WASHINGTON, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Federation for Children, the nation's voice for school choice, today announced a group of business leaders who will discuss school choice and the critical role of the business community in reforming our nation's education system at the third annual AFC National Policy Summit, to be held May 3-4 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Dr. Craig Barrett, former CEO of Intel, will speak with Lisa Keegan, CEO of the Education Breakthrough Network and former Arizona superintendent of public instruction, on improving education in the United States through technology. Barrett is president and chairman of BASIS School Inc., an Arizona-based network of successful charter schools and chairman of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's Arizona Ready Education Council.
AFC's national policy summit will include a business panel on support for school choice with Waste Management's Erika Aaron and Fred Klipsch, chairman of the Klipsch Group, both of whom have been active in supporting school choice programs across the country. In addition, George Norcross, chairman of Conner, Strong, and Buckelew and a longtime leader in the New Jersey Democratic Party will deliver remarks opening the Friday lunch program.
The Summit will also feature a bipartisan group of legislators who are working to enact and expand school choice programs around the country, a research panel on the latest data and trends of school choice programs, a public school officials panel, and keynote addresses from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, and national news commentator Juan Williams.
