AFA's Next Mitchell Hour: Air Force's Secret MiG Training Program
ARLINGTON, Va., July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a media advisory released by the Air Force Association:
WHO: John T. "Jack" Manclark, former director of Air Force Test and Evaluation and former commander of the 4477th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, will be the guest speaker for AFA's upcoming Mitchell Hour.
WHAT: From 1985 to 1987, Manclark was commander of Project Constant Peg, a then-secret program that trained US pilots to fly against Soviet MiG fighters the US had acquired by various means. Manclark will discuss the purpose of the program, the performance of the MiGs, how the 4477th evaluated the fighters and trained US pilots to battle against them, and what the Air Force gained from this effort.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 31, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
