AFAI Signs Joint Venture Agreement With Jatro Greentech Inc.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alternative Fuels Americas, Inc. (AFAI) announced today that it has signed an agreement to form a Special Purpose Vehicle in partnership with Jatro Greentech, Inc., a Toronto based Jatropha centric agro energy company. The SPV shall be called AFAI Jatro Green Ethiopia and will be a U.S. registered entity with AFAI as majority shareholder. The SPV shall pursue Jatropha planting and biofuels production projects in Africa, particularly Ethiopia.
"Although we have experienced great success with our legal marijuana subsidiary and expect to continue growing in that sector, we remain committed to the biofuels sector as well and continue to seek viable opportunities", states AFAI CEO Craig Frank. "We have been working to create joint projects in the biofuels sector to enable AFAI to leverage its seven years of plant trials and our innovative operation models. Our missing link has been a strong proprietary technology that specifically enhances our efforts. The highly imaginative, effective and efficient technology and methods developed by Jatro Greentech gives our efforts the distinctive value we have been seeking."
"The opportunities in Africa are enormous as select countries offer broad incentives and capital support for specific projects. Through existing professional relationships we believe we can secure the support needed to launch Jatropha projects in Africa", states Jatro Greentech's CEO Robert Tjandra. "Combining our technology and methods with AFAI's operational experiences provides an extraordinary knowledge base on the agricultural and operational fronts. Our proprietary technology and methods further serves to enhance the opportunity".
