WASHINGTON, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This Thursday, November 20th, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) will provide sharp opinions about the Norwegian Air International (NAI) application for a foreign air carrier permit. AFA joins many in the aviation industry and scores of policymakers in strongly objecting to NAI's application, as it will be devastating for American jobs and will undermine the U.S. aviation industry's standards for safety and security.
The day begins with NAI CEO Bjørn Kjos making his case to the aviation community at the International Aviation Club of Washington in his speech that's sure to include his plans for flying into the U.S., which blatantly ignores the U.S. – EU Open Skies Agreement.
Following Kjos' speech, at 3 pm EST, the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) will be joined by the House T&I Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Rep. LoBiondo (NJ-02), the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, and the AFA's airline members to discuss why the U.S. Department of Transportation should deny the NAI's application for a foreign air carrier permit. These labor advocates invite interested press to join in on the conference call, details below.
"The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) will not give up the fight until the DOT closes the door on NAI permanently. We remain dedicated to upholding labor standards and appreciate the support from Members of Congress who spoke out to defend the U.S. aviation industry," said AFA International President, Sara Nelson.
