AFA Focuses on Aerospace Challenges in Annual Air & Space Conference
ARLINGTON, Va., July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association's 2011 Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition promises to be even grander this year with more than 50 sessions, conference addresses and professional workshops available. This year's conference will be held September 19 - 21, 2011, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just minutes from downtown Washington, D.C.
The Air & Space Conference brings together Air Force leadership, industry experts, academia and current aerospace specialists from around the world to discuss issues facing America and the aerospace community. It attracts the top echelon of USAF senior leadership, including the commanders of every USAF command, and military dignitaries from air forces worldwide.
Included in this year's 50-plus sessions are 10 panels with distinguished experts giving insight to past, present and future aerospace challenges.
On the Checkmate and Black Hole Panel, Colonel (ret.) John Warden and historian Dr. Wayne Thompson look back at the extraordinary events of the first Gulf War and the "checkmate" planning group, which demonstrated the value of open collaboration, focused campaign thinking and strategy methodology.
The Misty Pilot Panel will be comprised of aviators who flew risky missions during the Vietnam War in F-100 jet fighters. These renowned pilots will speak about their time serving in a top-secret squadron, with a now-famous call sign – MISTY.
The Energy Panel will have a base view, a headquarters view and an industry view on the best practices in controlling energy costs.
The Space Industrial Base Panel will discuss the erosion of the industrial base and its near- and long-term consequences while offering observations as to necessary remedies.
And the Four Star Forum returns with the Air Force Chief of Staff and MAJCOM commanders covering topical Air Force issues.
The full conference agenda can be found AFA's website. Registration is now available online.
