AFA Focuses on Aerospace Challenges in Annual Air & Space Conference
ARLINGTON, Va., June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association is pleased to announce Dr. Ashton Carter, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, as the keynote speaker for AFA's 2011 Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition, to be held September 19 - 21, 2011, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center on the Potomac, in National Harbor, just across the river from Alexandria and minutes from downtown Washington, DC.
AFA's Air & Space Conference attracts the top echelon of USAF senior leadership, including the commanders of every USAF command and military dignitaries from air forces worldwide. It brings together Air Force leadership, industry experts, academia and current aerospace specialists from around the world.
With more than 50 conference addresses and an expo floor displaying the latest advancements in air and space technology, attendees will learn about the current issues and challenges facing America and the aerospace community. Guest speakers include the Secretary of the Air Force, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force.
Dr. Carter is the senior official in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the principal staff assistant and advisor to both the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense for all matters concerning the acquisition, technology and logistics. Before assuming this position, Dr. Carter was chair of the International and Global Affairs faculty at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and Co-Director of the Preventive Defense Project, a research collaboration of Harvard and Stanford Universities.
