AFA & AFSA Host Memorial Day Ceremony at Air Force Memorial
ARLINGTON, Va., May 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association (AFA) and the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) invite the public to join their commemorative Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015, at the Air Force Memorial. This event is open to all.
This annual event serves as an opportunity to recognize and pay tribute to the many service members who have died in service to this nation. Several wreaths will be placed at the Air Force Memorial on this day of remembrance in honor of the many generations of military heroes.
Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James A. Cody will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Cody represents the highest enlisted level of leadership, and as such, provides direction for the enlisted force. He serves as the personal adviser to the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force on all issues regarding the welfare, readiness, morale, and proper utilization and progress of the enlisted force.
AFA Acting President Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark Barrett and AFSA Chief Executive Officer CMSgt (Ret.) Rob Frank will also speak on behalf of their associations.
Planned activities include an invocation, special readings, the laying of wreaths, and the sounding of Taps. There will be an opportunity available for individuals and organizations to lay smaller wreaths and/or flowers in memory of their family, friends, and organizational members.
