AES Eletropaulo Records Net Income of R$ 281.9 Million

SAO PAULO, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de Sao Paulo S.A. (BM&FBovespa: ELPL3, ELPL4; OTC: EPUMY and ELPSY), announced today its results for 1Q11.

AES Eletropaulo's captive market consumption grew by 6.3% to 9,078 GWh in 1Q11. This result was made possible by the positive performance in the residential and commercial classes. In turn, free customers climbed by 12.6%, contributing a 7.4% increase in the total market.

The good market performance, coupled with the July 2010 tariff adjustment, had a positive impact on the Company's results in the period. Thus, in 1Q11 Net Revenues rose by 7.2% year-over-year. EBITDA and Net Income were also higher, by 10.2% and 26.5% respectively, in the quarter.

AES Eletropaulo has been improving its operational indicators, result from the continuous investments made by the Company. In 1Q11, R$ 156.4 million was invested, 59.2% more than in 1Q10.

In line with our shareholder remuneration policy, the General Shareholders' Meeting held on April 29, 2011 approved the Executive Board's proposal to distribute R$ 916.4 million as dividends and interest on equity related to 2010 . Added to the R$ 625.5 million interim dividends already paid during 2010, the remuneration to shareholders come to R$ 1,541.9 million, or 96.5% of the adjusted net income in the period.
