AES Eletropaulo Records Net Income of R$ 1,347.7 Million and Capex of R$ 682.3 Million

SAO PAULO, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eletropaulo Metropolitana Eletricidade de Sao Paulo S.A. (BM&FBovespa: ELPL3, ELPL4; OTC: EPUMY and ELPSY), announced today its results of 2010 year end.

Captive customers' consumption in AES Eletropaulo's concession area came to 35,434 GWh in 2010, a year-over-year rise of 2.9%, mainly driven by the high consumption of the residential and commercial classes. The total market, in turn, increased by 5.0% due to the significantly higher consumption of free customers.

The Company's results reflects the non-recurring events of (i) the financial liquidation of AES Eletropaulo Telecom's quotas, (ii) the positive effect of the second installment received from the agreement signed with the Municipal Government of Sao Paulo (MGSP), (iii) the agreement with Banco Santos and (iv) the lawsuits reversal related to supplementary retirement. In addition, the Company has adopted the IFRS standards, which positively affected the year's results.

Always seeking the best in the quality of the services, the Company invested R$ 682.3 million in 2010, which also positively impacted its operational indicators.

At the General Shareholders' Meeting to be held in April 2011, management will propose the payment in the amount of R$ 916.4 million to be distributed as dividends and interest on equity. That amount added to the interim dividends already paid will result in a dividend yield of 28.6% in 2010.
