AeroSat to provide Airborne Satcom systems to Gogo
AeroSat HR6400 broadband satellite systems will enable Gogo to provide airlines with in-flight connectivity services worldwide.
AMHERST, N.H., June 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AeroSat Avionics, a leader in aviation communications solutions, announced today that Gogo will use the AeroSat HR6400 satellite communication system to extend its in-flight connectivity coverage map beyond the United States to include the most popular international routes and destinations. The initial service expansion will rely upon existing satellites currently in service.
AeroSat has been designing and manufacturing satellite communications solutions for aircraft for nearly 15 years. "AeroSat is proud to leverage our experience to provide Gogo with a communications system that delivers unsurpassed performance," said AeroSat CEO, Dennis Ferguson.
AeroSat will deliver the fully integrated HR6400 Ku-band satcom system. This system provides all the components from the radome through the modem. Outside the aircraft, the system interfaces with Ku-band satellites. Internally, the system provides an Ethernet interface to Gogo's onboard systems. The combined system provides a worldwide solution for the connected traveler. Gogo expects to begin HR6400 installations on commercial aircraft as soon as the fourth quarter of 2012.
Ferguson added, "AeroSat has delivered more than 380 airborne antenna systems for corporate, commercial and military aircraft operating off Ku-band satellites in every region of the world. We're very excited about the addition of Gogo as a customer."
