Aerojet Hires Dr. James A. Drakes as Executive Director, Advanced Programs

SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced that Dr. James A. Drakes joined Aerojet today as an executive director of Advanced Programs in the Business Development department. Drakes will be responsible for developing new growth opportunities for the company through advanced technologies.

He has previously held key positions in the aerospace industry, most recently as Director of Optical Systems and Technology at Photon Research Associates Inc./Raytheon, and previously at Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation and  Sverdrup Technology, Inc./AEDC Group. Jim also served as a Director of Engineering for Aerojet in 2005 at its Gainesville location.

Jim holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in Physics from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Dayton. He and his wife Kim live in Occoquan, Va.
