IATA auditors conducted an expansive audit of Aeroflot's operation for five days. This audit has not revealed even a single nonconformity to the international standards. This result stands out in the global aviation industry.
The latest recertification marks the sixth successful IOSA audit for Aeroflot. The first of these dates back to 2005, when Aeroflot broke the ice becoming the first IOSA operator in Russia's civil aviation. Other Russian carriers later followed Aeroflot's suit falling back on the leader's experience.
IOSA standards are regularly updated to live up to the new challenges and demands of the world of aviation. The eighth revision of the standard is currently in effect.
IOSA-registered operator status is granted for a two-year term, eligible for further extension through recertification. This status is obligatory for the airline to be eligible for IATA membership as well as SkyTeam membership. The IOSA certificate is also requested by would-be partner-airlines to conclude or prolong code-share agreements.
Aeroflot has repeatedly proved its compliance with stringent IATA safety regulations in various aspects of the operation. Earlier this year Aeroflot successfully passed the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations(ISAGO).
