COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 31, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP) was listed in the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which highlights companies dedicated to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through their business strategy and transparency. This is the fifth consecutive year AEP has been included in the index.
The GEI is a modified market capitalization-weighted index that tracks the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender data reporting. Scoring is based upon five metrics: female leadership and talent pipeline; equal pay and gender pay equity; inclusive culture; anti-sexual harassment policies; and pro-women brand. AEP was included for scoring at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect a high level of disclosure and overall performance across the framework's five pillars. The index includes 484 companies from 54 industries headquartered across 45 countries and regions.
"A key part of AEP's business strategy is building an engaged workforce and a positive, welcoming culture where all our colleagues feel like they're part of the team," said Julie Sloat, AEP president and chief executive officer. "Our inclusion in the GEI for five years in a row reflects our ongoing work to advance gender equity both at AEP and in the communities we serve. As we transform our workforce, we'll continue to explore best practices to attract top talent and ensure women at our company can excel."
