Building on extensive experience in both private and public sectors, Chadima comes to AEE, a national business organization representing the advanced energy industry, to lead the organization's efforts to promote the industry in California, one of the country's largest advanced energy markets, and provide strategic direction for AEE's communications, marketing, and online activities nationally.
"Steve has proven himself an innovator many times over, and we're thrilled to have him leading our work in California and contributing to our success nationally," said Richard. "He brings a mix of business experience and policy expertise that will help AEE become a stronger business voice for advanced energy in California and beyond."
"I'm honored to join AEE, which is creating the unified voice this vital industry needs," said Chadima. "AEE is making the business case for advanced energy nationally, and I'm excited to take on the challenge of raising the industry's profile in my home state."
Chadima has been involved with advanced energy since 1983, when he managed a nonprofit corporation in Portland, Oregon, providing services and financial incentives for energy conservation, solar and alternative energy to residents, schools and businesses. Since that time, he has been involved with a wide variety of technology start-ups through his work at tech incubator Idealab and several of its companies including, most recently, UberMedia. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Regis McKenna marketing agency and the Congressional Budget Office.
In addition to his position at Suntech Power Holdings, Chadima served two terms as chairman of the board of directors of the Solar Alliance, an association of the leading PV manufacturers, integrators and financiers working with states to adopt cost-effective solar policies and programs. He was also on the board of the Large-scale Solar Association (LSA), which focuses on federal and state policies that affect utility-scale solar installations. Chadima earned his BA from UC Irvine and MBA from Stanford University. He lives in Laguna Beach.
